Individual therapy consists of a 50-minute session that includes you and your therapist only. We will focus on goals you have identified for therapy during this time, and at the end, we’ll review what we discussed and help you make a plan for how you want to use the session in your week ahead.
For children and teens, I work collaboratively with caregivers to determine whether individual therapy or family therapy is the most appropriate fit for the presenting needs. I may recommend a parent consultation session following individual therapy, or a family therapy session following individual therapy. With teens, therapy is often more effective when they have a certain measure of privacy. Safety is always my utmost priority, and I ensure that parents are informed of any safety risks to their minor children.
